Hardware Troubleshooting
This course covers identifying, installing, configuring and upgrading
hardware. You will learn how to distinguish between the different categories
of CPUs, Processors, Motherboards, Hard Disk Drives (IDE, EIDE, &
SCSI), and Memory and gain an understanding of their functions and interactions.
Also learn about different ports like USB, Firewire and legacy types.
Develop ability to troubleshoot and repair common computer systems, as
well as learn safety and preventive maintenance techniques. Gain an understanding
of IRQ, DMA and IO Addresses. Understand common printing technologies
(impact, chemical, inkjet, & laser) and their troubleshooting and
maintenance issues.
Course Length: 18 hours.
PC Operating Systems and Local Area Network (LAN) Fundamentals
Learn how to efficiently manage computer systems. Work with essential
DOS instructions, automate tasks with batch files, and network computers
for Internet communication. Study network concepts and terminology, apply
procedures for swapping and configuring network interface cards, and use
the OSI model to solve communication problems. Gain an understanding of
different network topologies, communication devices, and cabling options.
Learn the support and infrastructure issues dealing with Local, Metropolitan,
and Wide Area Networks. Differentiate between hubs, bridges, switches,
and routers.
Course Length: 18 hours.
Software Diagnostics
This course covers installation, configuration, optimization and upgrading
operating systems. You will become familiar with Windows NT, 2000 and
Windows 98. You will learn file and directory management, disk utilities,
diagnostics and repair of desktop systems. Gain an understanding of Memory
Models, Control Panel, the Registry, and Configuration files.
