Hardware Troubleshooting

Identify, install, configure and upgrade hardware. Distinguish different categories of CPUs, Processors, Motherboards, Hard-Drives (EIDE, SCSI etc.), and Memory. Gain an understanding of their functions and interactions. Learn about different Ports: USB, Firewire and Legacy Types. Troubleshoot and repair common computer systems and learn about IRQs, DMAs and IO Addresses. Understand common printing technologies and troubleshooting issues.

PC Operating Systems
Troubleshoot, configure, and optimize operating systems. Use essential DOS commands, write batch files, network computers and connect to the Internet. Understand network concepts, terminology, procedures for swapping and configuring network interface cards, and the ramifications of repairs when a computer is networked. Gain an understanding of different network topologies, hardware concepts, and cabling options. Learn the technological differences utilized in local area networks, metropolitan area networks, and wide area networks.

Software Diagnostics

Install, configure, optimize and upgrade operating systems. Learn file and directory management, disk utilities, diagnostics and repair of desktop systems including Windows 98, NT, and 2000. Gain an understanding of Memory Models, Control Panel, The Registry and Configuration files.

Essentials of Software Testing
Find, report and test software effectively and efficiently. Learn fundamental testing concepts used in black/white box, acceptance, user, performance, and regression testing. Perform boundary analysis; design test cases; write logical, concise bug reports; and communicate test plans. Learn tips and tricks for bug reproduction and isolation as well as how to avoid common mistakes in a variety of testing environments.

Network Infrastructure Administration
Configure, manage, optimize, and support of a Windows 2003 network infrastructure. Troubleshoot TCP/IP, and manage a routed environment with technologies such as RAS, VPN, IPSEC, PPTP, and L2TP.

Testing Web-based Applications
Learn strategies and real-world best practices for testing e-commerce and Internet applications and how it differs from traditional testing. Understand client/server system architecture and web technologies including fundamentals of scripting languages. Identify potential areas for errors in complex network systems.

Perl Programming for Testers
Learn fundamentals of the Perl programming language. Topics include basic operators, flow control, scalar values, array variables, and functions.

Microsoft Visual C++ for Testers
You can do a lot of great testing without programming, but if you want to be well rounded, you have to learn to write good code. This hands-on course introduces C and C++ languages as well as principles of object-oriented programming. Topics include variables, constants, operators, arrays, classes, inheritance, polymorphism, functions, namespaces, iterators, structures, pointers, and C++ Standard Template Library.

Fundamentals of Automated Testing
Learn fundamentals of automated testing including variables, constants, decision and looping structures, and file operations. Gain hands-on experience testing database applications and COM components. Use the Windows Systems Registry and API libraries for testing. Whether your goal is software development or automated testing, this class will take your career to a higher level.

Understanding Game Testing
This fun, hands-on course will teach you what you need to know to effectively test the range from consoles to computer games. Test graphics, devices, functionality, performance, documentation, and playability. Discuss PC vs. Console specific issues and requirements.
